Can I speak to an emergency operator directly through the device?
YES. You can speak to an emergency operator through the device using the built-in microphone. If you are unable to speak with the operator, they will immediately dispatch emergency services to your location.
Do I need to have Verizon in order for the device to work?
NO. Medical Guardian partners with Verizon to provide you with 24/7, nationwide protection. Just contact Verizon beforehand to determine that there is adequate Verizon coverage in your region.
Can I still use the device if I don't have WiFi in my home?
YES. Even if you don't have WiFi in your home, our emergency operators can still detect WiFi hotspots around you, enabling them to pinpoint your exact location within seconds.
Can I wear the device with a pacemaker?
YES. We do recommend that you review your pacemaker information regarding interaction with cell phones, and take the same precautions recommended for this device.
What happens if I accidentally press the call button?
Simply tell the operator that it is a false alarm, and no dispatch will be made.
Is an ambulance dispatched every time I press the call button?
NO. The device gives you access to both emergency and non-emergency services, which means that you can request help based on the type of situation. So whether you need EMTs, police, firefighters or simply a friend, family member, or neighbor, we've got you covered.
Can I wear the device in the shower?
YES. The device is highly water-resistant so you can call for help from anywhere, even in the shower. It should be towel-dried afterwards, and not immersed in water.
